“My life is full of terrible tragedies most of which never actually happened.”
This is a poem on self-acceptance called Unique by Abimbola Alabi,
Because I know who I am,
I’m at ease and free.
I can’t be like others,
And they can’t be me.
I’ve got fading scars,
An unusual physique,
But it all works together
To make me unique.
I’ve got hidden strengths,
Some obvious flaws.
Still I am who I am,
For better, for worse.
I don’t have to blend in;
I won’t live a lie.
I can’t please everyone;
I won’t even try.
Some call me proud;
Others stare at me in alarm.
But I’m not one to bother,
Because I know who I am.
A poem and metaphor called Good Timber by Douglas Malloch,
The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.
The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.
Good timber does not grow with ease,
The stronger wind, the stronger trees,
The further sky, the greater length,
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.
Where thickest lies the forest growth
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.
“All feelings carry an energy and energy can be transformed into any kind of different energy.
For example, it is easy to transform the energy of a feeling of disappointment into misery and also easy to transform it into motivation that drives positive action.”

We are not determined by our experiences, but are self-determined by the meaning we give to them; and when we take particular experiences as the basis for our future life, we are almost certain to be misguided to some degree. Meanings are not determined by situations. We determine ourselves by the meanings we ascribe to situations.
Alfred Adler (Austrian psychotherapist and founder of the school of Individual Psychology)
The role of the therapist is to reflect the being/accepting self that was never allowed to be in the borderline.

I include below a poem on gratitude that could easily be part of a hypnosis script. Should we use poetry more often in our hypnosis scripts? Also, shouldn’t a great script read like a beautiful poem?
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire, If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow. Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.Be thankful for your mistakes They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference. It is easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.

Every person’s map of the world is as unique as their thumbprint. There are no two people alike. No two people who understand the same sentence the same way … So in dealing with people, you try not to fit them to your concept of what they should be.
By replacing fear of the unknown with curiosity we open ourselves up to an infinite stream of possibility. We can let fear rule our lives or we can become childlike with curiosity, pushing our boundaries, leaping out of our comfort zones, and accepting what life puts before us.
